Veneers

Smiling Woman

Are veneers right for me?

Veneers are thin porcelain shells designed to cover the front side of your teeth and enhance your natural smile. Our doctor custom-fits each veneer to the individual teeth in your mouth, then bonds the veneers to your existing teeth. Veneers fix flaws such as misshapen teeth, stains, cracks, or gaps. They can also restore weak teeth.

Although veneers can be made out of resin composite materials, porcelain is the most stain-resistant material. Porcelain tends to do a better job replicating the look of your natural teeth enamel, too. Our doctor explains your options and recommends the best type of veneers for your specific needs.

What is the procedure for getting veneers?

After a meeting to talk through your veneer options and the results you’d like to see, you come back for a second appointment. At this appointment, our doctor takes off a minuscule amount of enamel from the surface of your existing teeth to shape them in preparation for the veneers. Once your teeth are prepared, he takes a mold of your teeth and sends it to the lab, where technicians will make your custom veneers.

When your veneers are ready, you come back to have the veneers fitted to each tooth. Once your teeth are entirely prepared for the bonding process, our doctor applies a unique adhesive and light beam. This step helps the cement bond firmly to the porcelain. In a relatively short amount of time, your veneers are permanently in place, and you have a new and improved smile.

What’s great about veneers?

Veneers provide a natural-looking way to correct crooked, cracked, or misshapen teeth. They also offer the following benefits:

  • Resistance to stains

  • Little gum irritation

  • Ability to lighten darker teeth, so they appear whiter

  • Aesthetically pleasing with minimal dental work

  • Strengthen teeth

  • Less expensive than some other dental procedures like crowns
